Application: Molex introduces innovative LED light

December 2011
Molex launched a new lighting system for the U.S. market. The VLM product line (Versatile Light Module) is extremely flexible, compact and cost-effective. Molex utilizes SSL (Solid-State Light), or more specifically circular LED lights.

The light disk with a shape and size similar to a small hockey puck is magnetic, allowing it to be placed on carrier rails and be repositioned anywhere along the rail as needed. Inside the space- and energy efficient lamp is a three-dimensional PCB manufactured using LDS. The MID technology combines electrical, mechanical and in this case serving as a bracket for the LED also optical functions, making the extremely compact design of the solid-state lighting possible.

VLM can technically be used anywhere you need light, so for private use, or for commercial use like the food service industry or agriculture to promote plant growth. Various light disks allow the light color and brightness to be changed in seconds.

The Molex lighting system is scheduled to be introduced in Germany next year. Developer Victor Zaderej explains the Molex VML in an interview available on YouTube.
