In March 2011 the research association 3-D MID e.V. published the market study “MID Study 2011 – Market- and technology transfer”. It compares the global MID market and analyses technologies and applications.
 
The first part of the study compares the German MID market with the markets in Europe, the USA and Asia. It unveils preferred methods, the extent of investments and the development in the global market.

The second part, the technology analysis, presents the current state of technology, assesses potentials and limits based on expert interviews and provides a forecast of future fields of action. It looks at manufacturing methods, industrial manufacturing equipment and how MID components are developed.

The third part looks at series applications. The applications are illustrated from idea to customer application, and key factors for successful MID projects. It shows which methods are primarily used, the areas where MIDs are used, and how complex applications are.
