LPKF Laser & Electronics AG has been honored with this year’s Hermes Award. The award was issued for the new laser system LPKF Fusion3D. Using the patented LPKF LDS method the LPKF Fusion3D simultaneously structures three-dimensional molded interconnect devices (MIDs) from multiple sides with up to four laser heads. This eliminates the need to rotate the component, increasing the processing speed, with increased accuracy, by a five-fold. The basis for being nominated for the Hermes Award 2010 was the combination of LDS method and its implementation all the way to maturity for series production in form of the LPKF Fusion3D. The prize was presented by Dr. Annette Schavan, Federal Minister of Education and Research, during the opening ceremonies of the Hannover Messe. The award includes prize money of 100,000 Euro, making it one of the highest remunerated technology prizes worldwide.
