The research association for three dimensional electronic modules 3-D-MID e.V. founded in Erlangen in 1992 is one of the world’s leading competence centers for research into and the practical implementation of three dimensional components in practice. The umbrella research organization for more than 70 member companies and research institutes has the task of assisting and further developing MID technology.
 
18 years after being founded, the association run by the chairman Prof. Klaus Feldmann is the world’s largest industrial research association in the 3D-MID sector. Bundling the know-how of a range of different disciplines looking at this issue, the research association promotes the exchange of experience and publicizes the scientific and industrial development of MID.

The research association is a non-competitive information market and interface between research and application. One of the many priorities of the association right from the start has been providing assistance to small and medium sized enterprises. LPKF Laser & Electronics AG has been a member of the 3-D MID research association for many years, and is represented on the three-man executive board by Dr. Wolfgang John.
