With 3-D molded interconnect devices (MIDs), miniaturized and highly integrated systems are implemented. In the professional workshop “3-D MID applications: design – manufacturing – reliability,” there are practical demonstrations in the laboratories, alongside talks and professional discussions.
 
Experts from industry will report on their experiences with MID technology in series production and in implementing a product idea. A multitude of serial applications will be shown in the process. In addition, there is the possibility of discussing individual problems and technical questions. The topics in detail:

• OLEDs, antennas, plug connectors in MIDs
• Design for manufacturing
• Manufacturing solutions for 3-D components
• Protection of molded interconnect devices
• Service life requirements

The professional workshop takes place on June 19, 2013, in Nuremberg. Prof. Franke, who holds a chair in Manufacturing Automation and Production Engineering, will undertake its technical direction.
