Video: Six Steps to the Finished 3D MID

August 2012
An entire MID production line, live and up close – but on display at a trade fair for the first time at the “SMT Hybrid Packaging 2012” in Nuremberg. What the visitor got to see was the production of a digital thermometer. The entire sequence can now be seen as a video on the LPKF website and on YouTube.

The entire MID production line, which presented the LDS process under serial production conditions, could be seen at the “Future Packaging” joint stand.

LPKF Sales Manager Edgar Roddewig explained in six process steps how a finished product, in this case a digital thermometer, develops from an idea with the aid of LDS technology. The LDS process steps in detail are creation of the layout, injection molding, laser structuring, metallization, fitting and soldering. Structuring was shown using the example of the LPKF Fusion3D 1100 laser system and metallization with the LPKF ProtoPlate.
