Skills competition: 47th WorldSkills 2024 with LPKF ProtoLaser H4

Passion, know-how and talent – these are the qualities that this year’s WorldSkills 2024 focused on. The “World Skills Championship” for people up to 22 years of age took place for the 47th time, this time from September 10 to 15 in Lyon, France.

LPKF traditionally supports WorldSkills with systems and application engineers. This year, Stefan Kiel and Lukas Illig from the Sales and Application Team were on site together with LPKF distributor Inoveos.

For the first time, powerful combination systems were used. Two LPKF ProtoLaser H4 in tabletop format combine the best of both worlds: The high-precision laser structures the conductor tracks on the circuit board, while the mechanical system carries out drilling and cutting processes independently thanks to the automatic tool change.

The participants designed individual layouts to solve their task in CAD systems. The LPKF representatives took over the layouts and converted them into practical circuit boards on site - these were then used for the next stage. "Around 20 different layouts, high quality requirements from the participants and only a few hours of time - we think it worked out great," said Stefan Kiel and Lukas Illig, satisfied with the results.
