A production machine is only as powerful as the software that controls it. This is especially true for prototyping systems, as these are suitable for applications with constantly changing layouts. "LPKF CircuitPro" is the common software basis for all LPKF laser systems. The addition "RP" describes the version that has been specially expanded for the LPKF ProtoLasers.
The LPKF system software CircuitPro RP has received a new release number 2 for the current version - an indication of extensive changes with additional settings and features. It is available in versions Basic, Advanced and - brand new since the beginning of September - Premium. The Premium version is equipped with functions that further expand the area of application.
The first innovation concerns freeform fiducials. The integrated camera uses these to capture any learned geometric shapes on the circuit board and starts structuring from this position. The capture and subsequent start of production are automatic, so that small series are also conceivable.
This function is useful, for example, for the post-processing of circuit boards that have already been separated and whose round fiducials have already been separated in the edge area. It also helps with the transfer of existing layouts from other CAD programs without additional post-processing.
Eric Scheidler, product manager for this software variant, explains: " LPKF CircuitPro RP Premium is ideal for users who, for example, are planning circuit board post-processing or who have to work with layouts from different sources. This feature enables test layouts or ramp-up productions to be carried out before the actual handover to the production lines without changing the layout data." Repairs are also possible, for example trimming antenna structures, separating faulty conductor tracks or drilling additional through holes.
An extension of the output formats is the second important innovation in CircuitPro RP. Many users make layout changes directly in CircuitPro RP. Until now, these changes could not simply be saved back, which resulted in a difference between layout and machine data. LPKF CircuitPro RP now supports all common output formats such as Gerber, Excellon, Sieb & Meyer NC Drill and DXF for retransfer.
With the CircuitPro RP 2 version, LPKF offers all owners of version 1 a free update in the same version, thereby significantly improving stability and performance.
