Tasks:
- Defining the LPKF-wide IP strategy:
- Advising on the strategic development of the patent portfolio
- Advising senior management on the impact of actual and projected developments on our company
- Systematic monitoring and analysis of the patent activities of competitors and deriving recommendations for action
- Creating appropriate guidelines, processes, and work instructions and selecting methods and tools
- Implementing the IP strategy:
- Regular review and maintenance of the LPKF patent portfolio
- Identifying new patentable inventions
- Supporting R&D projects:
- Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searches
- Counselling on patent applications and supporting the examination procedure
- Coordinating the activities of external patent attorneys, including clarification of argumentation in response to office actions
- Preparing and reviewing license agreements and NDAs with technology and business partners
- Licensing of intellectual property rights (in /out)
- IP coaching and training for internal colleagues as required
Job profile:
- Ideally, 3+ years of experience as an IP manager at the interface between technology development and business development
- Several years of experience in patent portfolio management, particularly in examining patent applications and supporting the application process
- Ability to develop strategies for a strong IP position of our company's products
- Knowledge of contract management, in particular licensing agreements and development agreements
- Excellent communication skills for close collaboration with all stakeholders
- Strong service, hands-on, and "finisher" mentality
- Willingness to travel occasionally to LPKF sites (mainly Suhl, Fürth and Naklo in Slovenia)
- Language skills: German (B2), English (C1)
- Excellent technical understanding and very good perceptiveness
- Technical / scientific degree
- Advanced knowledge in the international patent system is an advantage
