LPKF ProConduct

In-House PCB Through-Hole Plating without Chemicals

Through-hole Plating of Printed Circuit Boards

For double-sided and multilayer printed circuit boards

LPKF ProConduct is handy, extremely fast and easy to use. All holes are plated through in a parallel process. This guarantees a safe, fast and temperature-resistant result.

Information

Easy to use

When combined with an LPKF circuit board plotter, complete PCB prototypes can be easily produced in one day. The production of PCB prototypes in your own laboratory enables you to achieve significantly shorter development cycles. Costs for external service providers are saved and valuable data remain safe in your own company.

Perfect result due to highly developed technology

The specially developed LPKF ProConduct through-hole plating process metallizes through-holes with a diameter of up to 0.4 mm and an aspect ratio of 1:4. Under special conditions, even holes with a smaller diameter can be through-plated. The electrical resistance of a fully plated through hole lies within a range of 10-25 m Ω. Even after 250 temperature change cycles, the resistance increases only slightly (max. 28 mΩ).

Processing

Milling the printed circuit board with an LPKF circuit board plotter
1. Milling the printed circuit board with an LPKF circuit board plotter

The first step is to mill the PCB with an LPKF circuit board plotter of your choice.

Applying the protective foil and drilling the through holes
2. Applying the protective foil and drilling the through holes

Apply the protective film to the PCB surface and drill the through holes.

Applying the LPKF ProConduct paste
3. Applying the LPKF ProConduct paste

First place the printed circuit board on the vacuum table before applying the LPKF ProConduct Paste with the supplied squeegee to the protective film. The conductive paste is sucked through the vacuum table and the inner surfaces of the holes are coated. After the PCB has been turned, the process is repeated on the reverse side so that the holes are completely metallized.

Hardening of the paste
4. Hardening of the paste

After the LPKF ProConduct paste has been applied, the protective film is removed and the circuit board is placed in the hot-air oven at 160 °C for 30 minutes to cure. Once the paste has cured and the PCB has cooled down, it can be assembled and tested immediately.

 Accessories & Options

The performance of LPKF circuit board plotters and other LPKF systems can be enhanced with accessories and options. High-quality materials and precise workmanship ensure high reliability and durability for all expansions. The accessories can be retrofitted quickly and easily in self-assembly.
Convection Oven

The convection oven is used for curing the ProConduct paste, predries the board for  the solder mask, and cures the solder mask or label in approximately 30 minutes.  With timer and precise temperature control.

Vacuum table

The vacuum table holds the workpiece flat on the entire work surface and prevents the substrate from bending. The vacuum table can be used, for example, to process flexible and rigid-flex printed circuit boards without additional holding devices.
