Why Outsourcing Is Not A Good Option
Outsourcing the creation of prototypes is often costly in terms of time and money. Usually, the engineer is forced to order a minimum of 10 to 20 boards and wait one to two weeks to receive an initial prototype. In most cases, the prototype must then be populated with components and tested. If test results are unfavorable, the design is reconfigured and the prototype is created a second time, taking another one to two weeks to receive and test. Production costs can run considerably higher if the prototype delivery time must be shortened to meet schedules. Since effective prototyping often demands multiple design iterations, outsourcing is a poor option.
"Thanks to our LPKF ProtoMat we took a project that should have taken 10 weeks and did it in only one week."
