New LPKF ProtoMat X60 for processing assembled and non-assembled PCB panels

Hanover, April 2002 - LPKF is a reputed system provider in the field of rapid and flexible production of PCB prototypes using all current technologies. The ProtoMat X60 is the first milling/drilling/plotting machine developed by LPKF which can be straightforwardly integrated into an existing production line for series PCB production.

The ProtoMat X60 has a positioning range of 650 mm x 530 mm, making it the ideal system to complement existing high volume production machines. Fast conversion times, flexible application possibilities and straightforward control are the highlights of this high precision milling/drilling/plotting machine.

The ProtoMat X60 is the logical further development of the well proven family of LPKF milling/drilling/plotting units. Standard applications such as structuring, drilling and contour milling of PCB materials, as well as milling aluminium front plates, are all possible.

The new ProtoMat X60 and its extended positioning range now also makes for trouble-free separation and drilling of PCB panels. Another area is the production of rigid/flexible PCBs, in particular with the implementation of any necessary deep millings. Furthermore, the ProtoMat X60 is capable of processing individual PCBs as well as complex assembled and non-assembled panels. This unit's ability to realise ultra-fine PCB structures of up to 100 µm with extremely high edge sharpness means it is ideally suited for uses in HF and SMD fine-conductor sectors: the large positioning range opens up new application possibilities in the production of SMD solder-paste templates for use in quick clamping systems.

One of the new design highlights developed by LPKF on the ProtoMat X60 is a special roller guidance system which offers extremely high transport accuracy and hence guarantees uniformly high levels of precision during processing.

The standard delivery scope of the machine includes a CAM software package (CircuitCAM / BoardMaster) which, thanks to its transparent Windows interface, allows rapid implementation of various data formats (Gerber, GerberX, HPGL, Excellon, Sieb & Meier, DXF, Barco, ODB++, EESoftMask).

The software is prepared to upgrade the ProtoMat X60 for use in metering and through-plating applications as well as for a Teach-In camera.

The broad-based enhancements which make the latest generation of LPKF ProtoMat milling/drilling/plotting machines so outstanding, also amply demonstrate the technical know-how and leadership which LPKF has gained over 25 years of supplying thousands of installations world-wide.
