LPKF expands strategic orientation in the laser plastic welding segment

Munich, November 2002 - Erlangen-based Laserquipment AG founded in December 2002, develops and markets innovative system concepts for laser plastic welding, and also provides the associated services.

This young company already boasts enormous success thanks to in-house development and the sale of ground-breaking laser system concepts throughout the world. Its service activities have also posted significant growth in turnover.

The company has already sold eight laser systems within only the last nine months.

Very promising ongoing discussions with customers − particularly in the follow up to the recent FAKUMA trade fair in Friedrichshafen, Germany − guarantee that the system concepts launched to date will continue to attract a great deal of acceptance in the market.

Against the background of this extremely fast and successful launch, LPKF Laser & Electronics AG decided earlier than initially planned to realise its option of acquiring a 51% majority holding (previously 19.99%) in the share capital.
All of the milestones laid down in Laserquipment AG's business plan have been completely fulfilled.

LPKF AG's strategic objective is now to market innovative laser system concepts within Laserquipment's laser plastic welding segment with the aim of gaining world market leadership.
The main priority in this context is the targeted further development of this technology to optimise quality, reliability and economic efficiency, and ensure that its customers enjoy the maximum benefits.

The prime markets involved here are automotive engineering, medical, entertainment and telecommunications technology.

Synergies with LPKF AG will involve the 3D-MID, Laser and Drive Technology segments. In addition, use will be made of LPKF AG's global marketing channels to speed up international penetration even further.
