Manufacturing of Stencils
Stencils or templates usually consist of the actual material sheet metal, with a large number of apertures, a framework and a clamping device. The clamping device consists usually of a plastic or metal fabric, which connects between the framework and sheet metal in order to transfer to the template sheet metal the necessary tension.
Stencil “sheets” are increasingly fitted into fast change clamping frames instead of gluing and meshing into fixed frames. In addition to the apertures, holes are cut around the edge of the stencil into which the sprung or pneumatically tensioned pins of the fast change frame fit. Some of these fast change frame patterns are patented and a licence fee must be paid.
