Repair & Rework
Laser rework and repair of printed circuit boards

Opened Pads on a populated printed circuit board
As well as the possibility of removing, by means of laser radiation, solder resist or Polyimide cover foils on copper base materials, the laser can likewise be used for effectively reworking and/or repairing of anabled or bare printed circuit boards. Printed circuit boards, which would have been inevitably scrapped, due to design changes or process errors, can be repaired and/or reworked with the laser quickly and economically. This includes the possibility of cutting tracks.
Advantages of laser repair
- clean copper surfaces
- selectivity of material processing, i.e. base copper is undamaged
- rework of anabled boards possible
- contact-free material processing, thereby no material distortion
- high precision and positional accuracy of the openings through automatic registration of fiducials
- high flexibility
- economic repair
